Monument: A large granite monument to James Delaney, missionary pastor and church planter in Wisconsin during the 1800’s, is located on the property of Kettle Moraine Baptist Church. Sitting near the southwest corner of our parking lot and visible from Wisconsin Street, this monument includes a lengthy biography engraved on both sides. Although there is no known connection between the Baptist church in Whitewater in Delaney’s time and our current church, we are honored to host this memorial to a dedicated servant of the Lord who did so much for the cause of Christ. Please note that this is not the site of his burial. His grave is located across the street in the Hillside Cemetery. More info about locating his grave is included here and in the biographical documentary link below.
Cost: Free!

“To preach the Gospel to the poor gives me joy unspeakable.
Often, toil-worn and hungry, I travel scores of miles on foot and alone,
to do it, and to visit the sick, the poor and inpenitent; and it’s grand
beyond description, to be allowed to labor thus.”
– James Delaney, 1845
